Cinco de Mayo cake pops of the day: margarita and chili pepper!
These fun cake pops are perfect for Cinco de Mayo, but are cute enough to be served any time! The margarita cake pops are for sale from Etsy seller BellaRoca Cakes and the chili pepper cake pops are for sale from Etsy seller Jen's Pop Shoppe (via Foodista).

5 spicy cayenne cupcakes for Cinco de Mayo!
There are all sorts of ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with cupcakes; last year we gave you margarita cupcakes in margarita glasses (see all our margarita cupcakes here), churro cupcakes, Mexican hot chocolate cupcakes and a vegan black bean tamale cupcake with guacamole! This year, here are 5 spicy cayenne cupcakes; not all these cupcakes by blogger/bakers were created as homages to Cinco de Mayo but all are certain to provide a kick.

It comes after you swallow and it’s just a little burn. I like it, but if that’s not your thing, well, these are not the cupcakes you’re looking for."

Fill your piñata with cupcakes for the ultimate party fun!
Whether you're celebrating a Cinco de Mayo or a kid's (or an adult's!) birthday, who doesn't love a good piñata? I haven't swung at one in probably twenty-five years but I wish I had a party to attend that involved a blindfold, a bat and...a with cupcakes inside! Check out Cupcake Project to find out how to make your own cupcake piñata and have cupcakes fall through the air and still be edible! (I've been hunting for piñata cupcakes but haven't found any; if you've made some, email us at cupcakestakethecake at gmail.com or add them to our Flickr cupcake photo pool.)

Super fun Cinco de Mayo sombrero and sarape marshmallow cupcake toppers
I keep forgetting that before Mother's Day, we have Cinco de Mayo, so will try to make up for that before next Saturday with some Cinco de Mayo posts, like this one featuring these incredibly adorable and easy to make Cinco de Mayo cupcake toppers using marshmallows to add sombreros and sarapes (shawls, can also be spelled serapes) to your cupcakes! Head over to Hostesss with the Mostess to find out how to make them! They involve royal icing, food coloring and 3 types of marshmallows: jumbo, regular and flat rectangle ones (I didn't even know marshmallows came in rectangles!).
