One of the perks of running a cupcake business: watching kids eat cupcakes

Posted by Unknown at 10:42 AM 0 comments
This post was inspired by this adorable Flour Child Bakery & Dessert Cafe update on their Facebook page: "Watching tiny children sit in the grass and eat our jumbo cupcakes at Farmers Fare is priceless! :D Frosting up the nose, chocolate cake crumbs on their clothes, and BIG smiles on their faces! ♥" They're located in Virginia Beach, Virginia and can be reached at fcbakery at gmail.com or 757-464-1455 and you can follow them @fcbakery on Twitter and find out more at iloveflourchildbakery.com.

Cupcake bakery owner loves her job, and we can see why!

Posted by Unknown at 12:00 PM 0 comments
"I literally took a bite from 7 different cupcakes of mine.....YUM YUM. I love my job." This was posted on Facebook by Kari Thomas Haskell, co-owner of Retro Bakery in Las Vegas, and it made me smile. I read a lot of self-help and business books and loving what you do is at the top of the list of advice most people will give you about how to be fulfilled, so when I see cupcake bakery owners who are not tired of eating yet another cupcake and appreciate their job, it makes me happy by extension. Find out more about Retro on their Facebook page as well as at retrobakerylv.com and @RetroBakery on Twitter, where you can get more of Kari's perspective, and see more photos in their Flickr account. They require 14 days' notice for customer orders; email them at retrobakery at hotmail.com for details.

This photo perfectly expresses how I feel when I get a cupcake

How can you not love this photo of a little girl doing a happy dance after getting a cupcake from the first (and so far, only) Sprinkles Cupcakes' Cupcake ATM in Beverly Hills? It's part of a contest they're hosting on their Facebook page: post a photo of you at the Cupcake ATM by May 31, 2012, at 11:59 PST and you could win 5 dozen cupcakes! The Cupcake ATM is located at 9635 South Santa Monica Boulevard, next to the first Sprinkles bakery as well as the new Sprinkles Ice Cream (this is the year of cupcakes and ice cream, and we'll have more on their convergence soon). I hope the New York City Cupcake ATM gets here sooner rather than later. Also, the ATM now sells pupcakes, as evidenced below, though I am pretty sure a dog wouldn't know how to operate the ATM (via @cupcakeatm on Twitter).

Cupcake Appreciation Post

Posted by Unknown at 6:00 AM 0 comments
Wow, these cupcakes are absolutely beautiful. Upon first look wouldn't you guess these were from a gourmet cupcakery? Well, surprise! One of my friends crafted this delectable looking sampler pack! My friend Steven whipped these cupcakes up and gave away sampler packs to his college friends in hopes of gaining donations for a cause dear to his heart.

Aside from being a fantastic baker, as you can see from the pictures, he's also an amazing photographer! He's hoping to start baking more frequently after he graduates from UCSD but until then we can all admire his stunning sweet treats!

Vanilla s'mores cupcakes, but I think the centerpiece of each of these is the bear cookie! They look so lively, like they're about to start dancing or something. Some cupcakes seem designed to bring out the kid in all of us. These almost-too-cute cupcakes are by LA Sweets in Miami, Florida, via Facebook. You can contact them about custom orders at 305-665-5288 and get more information at lasweets.net.
