Chcolate dad cupcakes, flowers, sailboats and a beautiful bow
I know Father's Day is over, but chocolate writing as cupcake toppers, in italics especially, is always beautiful, and here are some "Dad" cupcakes I thought were adorable, by Ady Cakes in West Reading, Pennsylvania, via their Facebook page. Find out more at adycakes.com or contact them at info at adycakes.com or 610-898-4064.

Events at The COOP
I have been very lucky to make cakes for so many events at The COOP throughout the years. The parties carefully planned by the two owners, Juliet and Lucinda, are just amazing! If you have never been to this wonderful play place, don't hesitate to plan an afternoon visit during the summer break!
First of all is a a fire engine and school bus themed party...
Then here are a few pictures of this fun Sesame Street event, complete with gold fish party favors.
Last but not least, I hope you like the desserts made for a triple birthday party with a Wizard of Oz theme. Each boy had a cake: the scarecrow in the corn field with the hot air balloon as topper, the lion in Emerald City, and the tin man with the (marshmallow) tornado. There was also some fun decorated cupcakes and French macarons in the colors of the rainbow!
Sanrio character cupcake cuteness: My Melody, Hello Kitty, Deery Lou and Kerroppi
These adorable Sanrio cupcakes are by Haus of Cake in Central Coast, New South Wales, via Facebook. They're banana chocolate chip cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and "'My Melody' has a dummy as the birthday girl had recently given her dummy to a real bunny." They can be reached at hausofcake@yahoo.com.au or 0421176396. I'm 36 and still as a big a Hello Kitty fan as ever!

Loki from The Avengers cupcake, complete with helmet, plus Captain America cupcake by Nerdache Cakes
Check out this Loki cupcake, fans of The Avengers. It's made by 19-year-old New York City baker Ant of Nerdache Cakes! "Loki’s helmet is made from 24 separate fondant pieces, and took over 3 days to put together. It’s pretty screen accurate- besides it being edible! His horns are actually carved pieces of fondant that started as solid rectangles." The others are via Nerdache Cakes on Facebook.

Captain America
And then we get to two cupcakes that I'm stumped on - anyone know what these are?

Hazelnut Crunch Cupcake From Donatella
Last week a fellow food blogger invited me to lunch at Donatella, a Napoletana pizza place in Chelsea owned by Donatella Arpaia. The pizzas were great, but since this is a blog about cupcakes, I have to tell you about this golden cupcake. It's a hazelnut crunch cupcake with Devil's food cake with chocolate hazelnut cream center, hazelnut praline buttercream and toasted hazelnuts. It was delicious! Also I would be remiss in not mentioning that the rainbow cookie ice cream sandwich at Donatella was just named the best ice cream sandwich in New York City. It is almond-flavored with a thin layer of bittersweet ganache that gives the sandwich a touch of chocolate flavoring, these red, white and green cakes surround a homemade vanilla gelato topped with just a touch of strawberry rhubarb jam.
Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Frosting
Cookie dough and cupcakes. Chocolate and peanut butter. I'd say this cupcake creation might just be the death of all of us. But oh what a sweet way to go!
Gimme Some Oven has created this amazing looking recipe by tweaking a cake mix and topping the whole thing off with cookie dough in lieu of frosting! Grab yourself a tall glass of cold milk and enjoy the recipe here!
